The family of David Blahut, resident of Yorkton, sadly announce his passing on Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022. He was 60 years of age. A Graveside service will take place in September from the Yorkton City Cemetery.
David Robert Blahut passed away suddenly August 2nd, 2022. David attended school in Yorkton leaving home at a young age to work at the job that gave him the most happiness in life, on the oil fields in Alberta and including off shore oil rigging for numerous years in the Beaufort Sea. He loved the different locations and the scenery they all had to offer. Later in life he worked assembling heavy farm equipment which he also took great interest and joy in. David loved his family, often remembering his time spent on the farm helping grandpa with the cattle and dad working the field. Picking stones and help clearing the fields gave him the most joy and brightest memories. Picking on and teasing his sisters any chance he got was his goal. That was his way of ensuring his presence was made. Typical brotherly love. Football and hockey. Roughriders and Oilers. When those games were on guaranteed he would be calling mom or Sid to discuss the plays and scores. Food, especially home made by mom or sisters, was a great enjoyment for him. If there was a home-made burger with onion around or lazy holopchi, you had to fight for your share. David and his niece Makayla even used to fight over the mashed potatoes. He never turned down any home-made shared grub or fresh garden veggies. He got a slow cooker for Christmas several years ago and loved creating some recipes in it, often calling mom for advice on how to make her homemade stews and soups. He loved animals, especially cats and dogs and enjoyed his cat, his buddy Sam, that he had for many years. He would always love up mom and Deb’s pets when he was around and never batted an eye to cater to a stray if they needed him.
David will be remembered for being a very hard strong worker at his jobs. Always wanting things to be done the right way and in a manner to last and not fall apart. Whether it was fixing equipment or helping build something he was always willing to give a helping hand.
David was predeceased by his grandparents, Margaret and George Molnar, Steve and Doris Blahut and his father Robert Blahut. He is survived by his mother Gwen Blahut; sisters Deanna (Larry) Brailean and Deb (Sid) Matsalla; and only niece Makayla Matsalla; along with aunts, uncles and numerous cousins to mourn his passing.
Remember the good times,

I’m so glad I had.
