It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of David Potter, on September 30, 2022. Beloved husband of the late Joyce (April 3, 2022). He is survived by his siblings Agnes, Genevieve, Bob (Linda), George (Joan), Tom (Toni), and John (Judy). He is also survived by his children Stephen, Mike (Frances), and Suzanne Walker (Nigel). He will be greatly missed by his eight grandchildren, Elena and Kieran (Sara), Christina, Jennifer Cino (Matthew), and David (Liz), and Sydney Gale (Chris), Micayla (Tristan), and Drew (Marty), and his four great grandchildren, Carlos, Sloane, Morgan, and Giulietta. Dave always treasured his family over everything else. He will be remembered for his hours of volunteer work at church, in scouting, and at the Inn of the Good Shepherd. Many a young boy received his first lesson in outdoorsmanship from Dave, from knot-tying to canoeing down Wawanosh Creek. As well, Dave was noted for captaining teams during the annual April Daffodil fundraiser for the Cancer Society. Dave was an avid enthusiast of his barbershopper group, participating in many competitions and public performances. We would like to especially thank the staff at Bluewater Health for their dedicated care for Dave in his last week of life, and the many PSWs who provided home care over the last few months, especially his private caregiver, Jessica. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home, 1576 London Line, Sarnia, on Thursday, October 20, 2022 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m., with a memorial service to follow at 1:00 p.m. Friends and family will be received immediately after the funeral at the Smith Family Centre. The funeral service will be streamed on David’s memorial page on the Smith Funeral Home website. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Inn of the Good Shepherd (cheques only at the funeral home please).
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David Potter February 16th 1934 September 30th 2022..
