David Merritt 2022

David Kerr Merritt, of Miramichi, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at the Tabusintac Nursing Home, at the age of 82.
Born in Chatham, he was the son of William (Willie) and Laura (MacDonald) Merritt. He worked as a laborer and was retired from Sunny Corner Enterprises.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Shirley Merritt of Miramichi; three daughters Debbie (Bob Hale) of Fredericton, Dawn (Tom Hale) of New Jersey, and Wanda (Mike George) of Mount Denson, NS; two sisters Marion (late Edgar Campbell) of Ontario and Betty (late John Caron) of Miramichi; nine grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Jimmy (Rita), Robert (Cecile), and Walter (Stella); and sisters Jean (Donald Irvine), Bell (Robert Giggie), and an infant sister.
David’s greatest love in life was his family. He took great joy in making others laugh and was known to play some practical jokes.
He enjoyed the outdoors with bonfires and his birds, but not so much the squirrels!
Due to restrictions, a funeral service will be held at Northumberland Funeral Home at a date to be announced. Interment will take place in St Stephen’s Cemetery, in Black River, in the spring.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a memorial of one’s choice.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of Northumberland Funeral Home, 102 Pleasant St, telephone (506) 622-7741
