David John Platt Monday March 21st 2022

David John Platt passed away peacefully in his home in Burlington, with his wife and children by his side on March 21, 2022, after several years of living with Multiple Myeloma.
David was born in England in August 1953 and immigrated to Canada in 1957. He loved to share stories about his early life on the family dairy farm, backpacking trips throughout Europe and the US, and working on the railroad in British Columbia. He eventually attended Laurentian University in Sudbury, where he met his wife Eileen, and started a family. Here, he began sailing on Ramsey Lake.
His passion for sailing continued when he moved to Bronte in 1994. Living near the harbour allowed him to spend time walking the pier with his family, racing sailboats, and cruising with Eileen and friends. He loved the outdoors, particularly cycling, camping, and being on the water.
His career in Information Technology took him to many countries. He was a skilled carpenter, and photographer. Dave was always willing to share his knowledge with others.
A loving husband, father and grandfather, Dave is survived by his wife Eileen, children Jessica Mooney (Paul) and Chris, grandsons Patrick and Jason Mooney, and siblings Nicky Mathewson (Ron) and Carey Platt.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital.
