David Harnett
1929-2022
SOUTH BRANCH, NB – David Harnett 92, passed away
peacefully at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home on Monday, February 21,
2022 with his wife Betty by his side. Born in Fort Macleod,
Alberta he was the son of the late David T. Harnett and late Laura
(Whelan) Harnett.
David was well loved by all because of his good nature, sense
of humor, and his love of life. David was well known by many
because of his gift of music. He played at many benefit
shows, local jamborees, bluegrass festivals, house parties, the
Capitol Theater, the Wilf Carter Tribute Shows in Canning, Nova Scotia
and played for square dances at Frankie’s Dance Hall in
Mundleville for several years.
David will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 70 years,
Betty (Warren) Harnett of South Branch; one daughter, Vicki Harnett
(Ricki) of Moncton; three sons, Dale Harnett (Debbie) of South Branch,
Kenney Harnett (Joanne) of South Branch, George
“Sonny” Harnett (Mary) of Mundleville; three
grandchildren, Robby, Laura Anne, Adam and two great grandchildren,
Erica and Brett.
He is also survived by one sister, Emma Hudson (Raymond) of
South Branch; many nieces and nephews and he had a special fondness
for extended family member Jeff Warren.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Jean
Dunn and one grandson, Justin.
Visitation will be held at Thompson’s Funeral Home
in Richibucto on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Monday at 9:00 am until
time of the service. A Funeral Service will be held at
Thompson’s Funeral Home Chapel in Richibucto on Monday,
February 28, 2022 at 10:30 am.
David adjusted very well and was very happy at his new home
at the Rexton Lions Nursing Home since September 2021. Betty
and the family would like to express their appreciation for all the
exceptional care given to David there. As Dad often said,
“you couldn’t ask for any
better”.
Following provincial COVID-19 regulations, visitors will be
required to show proof of double COVID-19 vaccination and government
issued ID to enter the funeral home and church, masks are mandatory
and we ask that social distancing be respected.
Donations in David’s memory may be made to the
Rexton Lions Nursing Home and would be appreciated by the
family.
