Dave passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on June 23, 2022 at the age of 72.
Devoted and cherished husband to Minnie for 30 beautiful years. Most loved father to Dana Hyde & husband John, proudest Papa to Deanna and he will be missed by his fur buddy Milo. Father of David Jr. and Jodi Stannard. Grandfather to Dustin, Christian and Roarke. Dearest brother to Ellen Gilson (the late Lloyd) and brother-in-law to Margo Michaels (Jim), the late George Eltousse (Maggie), the late Joe Eltousse (Andrea). Uncle Dave will be remembered by his nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents George and Vera Stannard and in-laws Richard and Helen Eltousse.
Dave was a retired Superintendent with the Windsor Police Service, serving his community for over 33 dedicated years. After retirement, one of his best friends Gerry Finnegan, had asked Dave to develop and implement an artist protection program for Caesar’s Windsor which he really enjoyed doing. He will be remembered and missed by his numerous golf buddies and his many friends and neighbours where many good times were shared and Dave always enjoyed life to the fullest.
Special thank you to Dave and Pat Roberts and Carol Derbyshire who have been longtime friends. A heartfelt thank you also to Dr. Sindu Kenjeekal for her compassionate care.
If you so desire, donations to the Hospice of Windsor or the Windsor Regional Cancer Centre would be appreciated by the family.
As per Dave’s request, a private family cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at the Caboto Club (2175 Parent Avenue) from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
