David Danskin Friday April 15th 2022

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of David Danskin of Maxville on Friday April 15, 2022, in his 95th year. Dave was loving husband to Julia (Cameron) for 66 years and father to David (Lynn) and Elizabeth (Luke).
Born April 26, 1927, in Edinburgh Scotland, the third child of Jessie (Mochrie) and Robert Danskin, brother to Robert (Ann) Jean (Jim) and John (Cathy). Dave was brother-in-law to June (Sandy) Ian (Anne), Bill (Cathy) and had many nieces and nephews.
Dave was a long-time teacher, leader and supporter of the Glengarry Pipe Band and the School of Piping. Originally recruited into the RCAF by John T Mackenzie in Scotland in the early 1950s it was only fitting that Dave and John would end up collaborating the rest of their years helping to grow the local piping community in Glengarry. Dave taught many fledgling pipers over the decades, both young and old, but throughout remained a keen learner himself. “Mr. D” as he was affectionally known to his many students and friends will be missed.
Dave began his working life in the Royal Infirmary in Edinburgh during the war, he went on to serve in the Royal Army Medical Corps in Egypt, Royal Canadian Air Force in Europe and Canada, the Montfort Hospital in Ottawa before retiring in 1992 after 23 years in the laboratory of Glengarry Memorial Hospital. The family would like to thank all the nurses and doctors at Glengarry Memorial for looking after Dave his last few days.
The family would also like to acknowledge the kindness and support of some dear friends over this last couple of years who we cannot thank enough, Ron and Jen Harmison, Lorraine Alderson, Eileen Franklin, Erin and Peter Wensink and family, and Maria Wing.
There will be no funeral as per Dave’s wishes, but the family will host a private celebration of his life later this summer. In lieu of flowers the family would like to suggest donations to the Glengarry School of Piping, the Glengarry Pipe Band, the Glengarry Memorial Hospital, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of your choice
