David Alexander Middleton
Feb 21 1942 – May 18 2022
It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of “Uncle Dave.”
Dave was born on February 21, 1942 in Kettering, County of Northampton, England.
His parents Irene Marguerite Middletion (Leonard) and Thomas Charles Middleton met during WWII. His mother Irene was an English war bride and immigrated to Canada after the war.
Irene, Dave and his little brother Alan embarked on a ship June 6, 1945 from Liverpool England bound for Canada. In later years they all became Canadian citizens.
Dave spent the rest of his life calling Nelson, BC home. Growing up with his brother Alan and his sister Barbara, the three went on daily adventures. They spent countless hours exploring the mountains around town. Dave loved to fish, hunt grouse and pick berries. He hiked all the local areas in search of his favorite, huckleberries. You could always count on him for a bucket or two.
His first job as a young man was delivering telegrams on his bike all over Nelson. Dave also worked for the forestry office building trails in the area some of which are still in use today.
Over the years Dave would help his friends by delivering them groceries or other items they might need. Dave was a kind soul who would help anyone in need, not asking for anything in return.
Dave could often be seen on his daily walks about town, stopping to chat or catching up on the local gossip. Crows and pigeons would often follow him on his walks as his pockets were full of treats and seeds for them.
To honour his memory, please pass on a random act of kindness.
He will be missed by his family and special friends. Dave is survived by his sister Barbara and sister-in-law Betty, nieces Lori, Viki and Donna and nephews Steven and Jamie.
You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of David Alexander Middleton May 18th 2022..
