It is with great sadness that the family of Daryl William Allison of Whitney announce his passing on July 31st at the Region 7 Miramichi hospital. Daryl was a devoted, kind and extremely generous husband, father, and friend. He will be dearly missed by his wife of 59 years Catherine (Taylor) Allison, his two daughters Tanya Thibodeau of Grande Prairie, AB and Krista Allison of Moncton, NB, along with his two grandchildren Wyatt Thibodeau of Grande Prairie, AB and Whitley Thibodeau of Ottawa, Ontario. He is survived by one sister Anna (Allison) Hare (Winston Hare) of Miramichi, NB, and two sister’s-in-law Linda (Travis) Allison (Late Hubert Allison) of Whitby, ON and Gloria (Doran) Allison (Late Beverly Allison) of Miramichi, NB. Daryl also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Daryl was born in Whitney in 1939 at the Haven of Rest and is predeceased by his parents Ernst and Katherine (Matchett) Allison, his sister Marilyn (Allison) Sutherland (Late Robert Sutherland), and brothers Hubert and Beverly Allison.
He gave his children an idyllic childhood. Family was his highest priority, and he devoted his free time taking the family camping, travelling to sports games, visiting relatives and enjoying time together.
Daryl is a former tractor trailer /owner operator who worked for many companies over the years including Miramichi Pulp and Paper from which he retired in 2001.
As former president of the North and South Esk Recreational Center, Daryl enjoyed over 35 years of voluntary service due to his love of sports and wish to promote healthy lifestyles amongst those in the community especially the young people. He was a great hockey and ball player in his day and had a special interest in the success of the Toronto Blue Jays, Pittsburg Penguins and the Chicago Blackhawks; the latter being his favorite team.
Daryl also had a love for animals especially his collies who will also miss him greatly.
Visitation will be held at Bell’s Funeral Home on Friday, August 5 from 5:00 – 9:00 PM. Funeral service will take place at Victory Baptist Fellowship Church on Saturday, August 6, 2022, at 3:00 PM with Pastor Vincent Somers officiating. Interment will be in the Whitney Baptist Cemetery.
As expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Sunny Corner Arena, local SPCA or the Victory Baptist Fellowship Church. Messages of condolence for the family can be sent through the funeral home website at www.bellsmeadows.com

  1. Catherine,I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Daryl. Reading the words of his character ,you were indeed blessed with a loving husband . A couple of times .I “ran into” Daryl at coffee shop in Sunny Corner”. I was so pleased to unexpectedly see him and then to see you both again at a particularly trying time of my life warmed my heart. Thank you, It mattered. I so felt his personal goodness that showed through.
