Darren’s soul gently and peacefully left his body on Friday, August 26th, at Rotary Hospice Stratford Perth, in his 58th year.
He leaves behind his loving wife of over 31 years, Tamara Harbar, his mother Marilyn Redfern and siblings Jim (Lynn), Jeff (Jeanette), and Trish, and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father, Arthur. He also leaves behind his aunt Julie Brushey (John), and cousins David (Robin) and Julianne (Paul).
Dear brother-in-law to Olga Malfara, and beloved uncle to Danielle Ohanessian and her husband Joseph, and adoring great-uncle to their children, David and Aren. Predeceased by brother-in-law Joseph Malfara.
Loved, admired and respected by extended family, many friends, and work colleagues. Darren’s gentle, kind and friendly spirit will be missed by all, as well as his insights, intelligence, and wit.
Professionally, Darren’s compassion and creativity elevated people and businesses alike. With versatility, he devised several patented algorithms for Natural Language and Logistics. He was known for his integrity, and inspired his coworkers’ loyalty, friendship and respect.
Darren was born in Montreal and moved to Stratford at the age of two. Stratford remained his home, although, he loved to travel the world, notably to Nepal, Egypt and France in his university days. Other favourite places included northern Ontario, particularly Manitoulin Island, and the Maritimes.
An open casket visitation will be held at St. James Anglican Church, 41 Mornington Street Stratford, on Thursday, September 1st from 1-2 pm with the funeral service immediately following. There will be no interment at this time as Darren has requested cremation. Support and refreshments will be available in the church hall afterward.
Those attending are invited to wear something purple – Darren’s favourite colour. Masks are required to be worn in St. James Anglican Church.
