Danny L Jackson 2022

Danny Lloyd Jackson, age 75, passed away suddenly on May 19, 2022 following a lengthy battle with heart disease. Born in Stratford, son of the late Lloyd and Leta (Wright) Jackson. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Brenda (Crawford) and children, Julee Nickel (Todd) and Darrell Jackson (Jenna). Proud grandfather to Jackson, Avery, Addison and Leighton Nickel. Danny is survived by his twin brother Dennis Jackson, older sister Doreen Jackson, older brother Paul Jackson and his anointed brother Dennis Schlotzhauer. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his in-laws Vernon and Elizabeth Crawford.
In addition to his family, Danny had a great love of dogs which became a passion for he and Brenda throughout their life together. He also leaves behind several Bulldog companions and will join his many Bulldog, Shar-pei, Sheep Dog & Retriever friends in the afterlife.
Danny was an incredibly talented mechanic and at young age, he and Dennis began repairing and rebuilding just about anything that had an engine. He started his career building bridges and servicing equipment with Gaffney Construction. A heavy truck mechanic by trade, Danny would found Danny’s Truck & Equipment Repair where he serviced heavy trucks and equipment of all kinds including the local fire truck fleet. With prompting from Brenda, he later moved on to a successful career in real estate with Remax & Hiller Realty in Stratford. Real estate offered Danny more free time than the 24/7 world of heavy truck repair which allowed Danny to venture into the world of civic politics where he would proudly serve two terms on city council in the City of Stratford. While on council, Danny also served on the PUC and Municipal Airport boards. His retirement years were far from relaxing as he and Brenda would conjure their love of dogs and move on to the world of dog breeding. Together they would form BreDan Kennels which is still producing pure bred French & English Bulldogs. Not one to sit still, Danny also delved into part-time stints as a pilot car driver, security guard and parts desk clerk in retirement.
Danny had the “gift of the gab” and loved to meet with and talk to people wherever he went. He was deeply interested in knowing who people were, who their family was, where they were from and what they did. In his 40 years spent in the Neal-Morrison corridor, he could routinely be seen in the garage or driveway inviting neighbours in to chat about the latest project he was tinkering on, to show off a dog or just to gab about the goings on around the city. Many trips to car shows and flea markets would allow Danny to meet and greet likeminded friends from other places and this also gave him great joy. Danny was as handy with a hammer as he was with a wrench and conducted many home renovation projects, including a full demolition of a house with only himself and a skid steer. However, next to Brenda, his true love was his dogs. He was never without a dog at his feet, by his side or riding shotgun in his car. He spoke to his dogs in baby talk and treated them as if they were his own children.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Haffner, Dr. Thimm and the many nurses and support staff at Stratford General Hospital and CarePartners Stratford who cared for Danny along his journey.
In keeping with Danny’s wishes, cremation will take place along with a private family service. A celebration of life will follow.
