Obituary of Dan Doyle
It was a long way to the top, but he made it. Dan Doyle, 57, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife, children, sons-in-law and three baby woodpeckers in his backyard. We like to think these were his mother, Phyllis and his brothers Steve and Jeff, guiding him home.
Dan will be remembered in myriad ways. A pillar of his community. A lover and a fighter. A “guy’s guy.” With a number 17 on his back. Endlessly generous with his time as a hybrid carpenter-plumber-electrician- painter. In his recliner. With his skates. Toolbelt on. Bearing a boyish grin. Remembered forever.
Dan is survived by his wife, Melanie (née Merriman), and their children, Kayla (Don) and Dylan (Matt). A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Barclay Funeral Home in Brockville, ON. In lieu of giving flowers, the family asks that those who are able instead make a donation to the ALS Society of Canada.
To our Jimmy in the sky with diamonds: you shared with us the night before you left, “I need a vacation.” You got it, bud. We’ll see you in paradise.

  1. Our sincere sadness and condolences to Melanie and family. Dan was an amazing fighter, who deserves his eternal rest and peace. He certainly earned his wings waiting patiently for God to take him home. God speed to our neighbour (while living on Dales Ave) He was such a wonderful son in law. He was always helping Melanie’s mom and dad out with snow shovelling, grass cutting and many other little duties to make their life easier. He was very loved and will be missed by many. I’m sure the 3 little woodpeckers were there to help his transition to the other side.. God bless! ( we’ll miss your handsome face )
