On Wednesday March 9, 2022, Dale passed away peacefully with his family by his side.
Loving husband of Jane (nee Hawthorne). Devoted father of Sarah and her husband Shreedat Phulesar, Amy and her husband Shane Helsby. Proud grandpa of Aidan Phulesar. Predeceased by parents Jean and Earle Ripley and survived by his brother Robert. Dear cousin of Robert Ripley (wife Judye predeceased) and Harold Ripley (predeceased) and his wife Dianne and their families.
Dale was an exceptional and inspirational educator. He retained contact with many of his former students from Merlin Area Public School, and Victor Lauriston and Queen Elizabeth II elementary schools in Chatham throughout his retirement.
Dale believed in the importance of giving back to his community. Most notably, he was involved in the restoration of the Chatham Capitol Theatre and with Chatham Kent Secondary School musicals. Dale received special recognition for 25 years of commitment, expertise and passion to these productions. A memorial award is being established to honour his contributions.
An avid gardener, Dale had a green thumb and loved being outside on a sunny day. He enjoyed woodworking and created many memorable gifts. Dale also enjoyed gourmet cooking, often preparing elaborate meals and picnics for family and friends.
The qualities that Dale embodied as a highly respected and admired teacher permeated every aspect of his life. He was a generous person who lived each day with humour, dignity and gratitude.
Special thanks to the staff at Seasons Royal Oak Village, LaSalle and the Village at St. Clair, Windsor for their excellent quality of care. At Dale’s request, a private family celebration of his life has taken place.
