Cory L Boddy 2022

We are devastated to announce Cory’s tragic passing on March 25th at the age of 46, leaving an irreparable hole in the hearts of family, friends, and colleagues. Cory’s family was his pride and joy. Whenever he spoke of them—whether it was Harper’s rock band performance, Elliot’s ability to solve complex puzzles, or Gillian’s work at the University—he beamed.
Born in Whitecourt, Cory spent his childhood in Fox Creek, Sangudo, and Provost. He was a gifted student and talented athlete from an early age—traits that continued throughout his life. While completing his Commerce degree at the University of Alberta, Cory stole Gillian’s heart. He then entered the world of finance, rapidly rising through the ranks to become an accomplished portfolio manager and the recipient of numerous awards throughout his 20-year career. Cory was the true definition of a moral compass, and quick to point out his ‘fiduciary duties’ to anyone who would listen. He consistently stood out amongst peers due to a steadfast commitment to his core values, and for always putting clients’ interests first.
Both deeply thoughtful and quick-witted, Cory was the ultimate trusted advisor to many, in both his personal life and in business. He used humour to lighten even the toughest situation. His ability to quickly simplify complex problems made him a strong foundation and sounding board for so many around him. A common theme amongst his many friends and family members, who are processing this tragic loss, is one of deep admiration for the love he showed and support he gave them.
Cory will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 19 years, Gillian; children, Elliot and Harper; parents, Dale and Joanne; sister, Jodi (Adam); niece, Talia, and nephew, Luke. He also leaves behind parents-in-law, Rod and Phyllis; brother-in-law, Mike (Claire); nieces, Caitlin and Tessa, and nephew, Nolan; extended family, and so many dear friends and colleagues.
In lieu of flowers, a Memorial Donation may be made to Camp Health, Hope & Happiness, Box 182, Seba Beach, Alberta, T0E 2B0, where Cory served throughout his adult life, first as dedicated staff member, then volunteer, and, finally, as a board member. Alternatively, a Donation to the Juventus Cycling Club, 6850 88 Street NW, T6E 5H6, in support of youth cycling programs would be valued; Cory was committed to the club as an enthusiastic cyclist himself, as well as a coach for children’s programs. In the cycling community, you will also find dear friends who will want to share stories about their beloved Sugar Boddy, a nickname he earned due to never wanting to ride in the rain.
A Memorial will be held in April 2022. Details with be shared with close family and friends.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Cory L Boddy 2022..
