Cornelius Con White 1925 2022

Obituary of Cornelius White
Cornelius (Con) White was born in St. George’s, NL. After the death of his father, when Con was just 3 years of age, his family moved to the mainland where Con spent the majority of his life in Montreal, Quebec. Con was an Able Seaman in the Royal Canadian Navy during WWII aboard the HMS Iroquois. Following the end of the war, Con spent the bulk of his career working for Cunard Shipping Lines. Being the loving son that he was, he cared for his mother until her death. After retirement Con returned to the place he loved most, Newfoundland.
Con’s favorite things in life were fishing, hunting, hockey, baseball and gardening. His energy was contagious and his smile would simply warm your heart. He lived everyday with a purpose.
Con leaves to mourn nieces and nephews: Mary Beety, John McConville (Annemarie), Maureen Dunn, Patrick McConville (Cathy), Kathleen Tara Dailey (Richard), Monica Challener (Timothy), Karen Bradley (Sid) Bil White (Mike), Kevin White and Brian White (Darrin) and also Cousin Connie Bryant from Halifax.
Con was predeceased by his parents: William James White and Mary Ellen Sullivan; siblings: Ada Slade, Kathleen McConville, Leo White, Margaret White; nieces: Susan White and Catherine Slade.
Church Service on Wednesday, June 8, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. from St. Joseph’s Parish, St. George’s with Fr. Edmund Dantes officiating. Interment to follow. Never knowing his father, his dying wish was to be laid to rest beside him in the Roman Catholic Cemetery, St. George’s, NL.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Fillatre’s Funeral Home in Stephenville Crossing, NL.
