On Thursday, October 13, 2022, Mrs. Cora Vander Velden passed away from this life into her heavenly home.
She was predeceased by her parents, Adrianus and Cornelius; beloved husband, Paul; four brothers and six sisters.
Cora will be fondly remembered by her loving family, including daughter, Edna (Bill); son, Andrew (Deanna); son, Adrian (Dennise); nine grandchildren, Glen (Hilary), Mike (Candace), Darren (Eliza), Derek, Jessie (Estie), Jenna (Nick), Justin, Taylor and Sidney; twelve great-grandchildren and fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews and extended family.
Cora was a stay-at-home mom until her kids were in high school and then worked in retail at the Oliver Stedmans until her retirement.
She was always busy; Cora enjoyed sewing, crocheting, knitting, reading, walking, exercising at the Seniors Centre, baking, socializing, bowling and lawn bowling. She also enjoyed singing and belonged to many choirs over the years.
Cora was very involved in Valley Congregational Church. She sang in the choir, was hospitality coordinator and a member of the Ladies Ministry. Cora also volunteered in the community with Kiwanis, the Oliver Seniors Centre and with the Canadian Cancer Society from which she received a certificate for 15 Years of Service.
She enjoyed many trips back home to Holland to visit family, Hawaii, bus trips to the USA and visits to Toronto to be with family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday October 25, 2022 at Valley Congregational Church followed by an urn interment and committal at the Valley Congregational Church Rose Garden. A reception in the church reception hall will follow the committal.
