Constance June Brown Topple Wednesday September 21st 2022

Constance June Brown (née Topple) 1927-2022
Her hands are finally still – those hands which for so many years cooked, baked, created, and cared for others. First for her younger siblings Elaine, Doris, Glenna, and Murray. Next for her late husband Ronald and daughters Beth (Eric Thall), Lori (Henry Moser), and Megan (Robert Cooper). Finally for her nine nieces and nephews, six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She lived a wonderfully long life.
A gifted musician, June earned her piano teaching certificate in Toronto at the young age of sixteen, won many awards as a pianist and composer, and went on to accompany various choral groups and musical productions after moving to Sudbury. She loved working with singers of all ages, enjoyed a stint as the “mom” for the Ontario Youth Choir, and never missed an opportunity to attend a local musical event. We like to think she passed on her musical genes and love of music to the next three generations!
June’s hands were always at work. This began when she worked as a soda jerk at Fry’s Friendly Pharmacy in Leaside as a teenager, progressed through her years as a dedicated Red Cross Volunteer and Kiwanis Music Festival Secretary in Sudbury, and continued to the end as she filled her hours with beautiful knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, cross-stitch, and quilting pieces. Whether watching her family from a chalet at the bottom of a ski hill or sitting in the evening at camp on the French River, her hands always held her latest project and she loved to expound on the newest technique she was mastering. We treasure her many handmade gifts.
The family extends sincere thanks to the care team on the Cardiac Unit at HSN, especially Corinne, whose compassion and support for June and her girls was invaluable. We also appreciate the work done at Meadowbrook to support June these last few years. Her special PSW, Sue, provided humour, patience and boundless energy which buoyed us all!
Her tremors have ceased, her hands are still, and the mists of dementia have lifted. “May flights of angels sing her to her rest.”
Celebration of life in the R.J. Barnard Chapel at the Jackson and Barnard Funeral Home, 233 Larch St., Sudbury on Tuesday, September 27, 2022, at 11am. (Friends may gather after 10:30am Tuesday).
