Constance (Connie) Ann Beattie
May 20, 1960 – June 7, 2021
Constance (Connie) Ann Beattie passed away suddenly at age 61, in her home in Ottawa on 7 Jun 21. Connie was predeceased by her parents A. Jean Beattie (nee King) ‘89 and Alan Russell Beattie (’07), her Aunts Constance Marie Beattie (‘49), Lois Willis (‘06) (of Rochester) and Uncles Carl King (‘02) and Robert Willis (‘70). Connie is survived and dearly missed by her brother Charles (Chuck) Alan Beattie, (Alison Manning), nephew Ian Alexander Beattie of Perth Ontario. Cousins Debbie (Willis) Haar (Sandy) of New Jersey, Doug Willis (Colleen) and Donald Willis of Rochester, and respectively, Nona Kerr and Connie Henderson (nee Kerr) of Ingersoll Ontario, Susan Kerr of Winnipeg as well as numerous cousins in the Davis, King, Willis and Haar branches with whom Connie found endless joy in new family arrivals and visits over the years.
Connie grew up in Beaurepaire, Quebec and spent her summers at the family summer cottage near Rockport, visiting her Grandparents Charles Alexander Beattie (Fullerton’s Drug Store) and Mildred Beattie (nee Russell) of Westport and relatives in the Brockville area. She attended Christmas Park Elementary, Beaconsfield High School (BHS) and Bishop’s University where she obtained an Early Child-Care Certification. Connie worked for Stentor and Bell Canada, following her father into that company.
Connie was involved in many social groups from a young age, including Brownies and Girl Scouts in Beaurepaire, figure skating and later The CHEO Teddy Bear Picnic in Ottawa and many other charity events where she volunteered her time. More recently, she helped with BHS School Reunions, which she was especially fond of attending and seeing old friends. Connie was adventurous and tried everything from sky diving and geocaching to white-water rafting and SCUBA diving with her brother, who was an instructor. She was a world traveller, having visited Mexico, Cuba, most of Europe, Bermuda, China, and Hong Kong and took many cruise ships tours of the Caribbean with her best friend Helen Brownlee. Her lifelong friends Cindy Mackinnon, Susan Dewitt and Sue’s late sister Jane were always there as a sounding boards and big sisters. These are friendships that all should envy for their depth and strength.
Connie will always be remembered for her caring heart, compassion for others and infectious laugh. She will be sadly missed by many friends and family. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in Connie’s name to:
