Colleen Gail Major Anderson, age 73, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital February 19, 2022 with her family at her side. She was born September 19, 1948 in Rossburn, Manitoba to Norman and Barbara and grew up with three brothers Garth, Les, and Ron.
Colleen was a very devoted mother with a great sense of humour and will be deeply missed by her daughters Heather Anderson and Erin Mattson, son-in-law Noel Mattson, and her grandson Dylan Mattson. Her close friends Pat and Glen Pitcher, Julie and Jim Hakes, and Gloria Mattson will miss her company and frequent chats. Colleen is predeceased by her parents and her brother Garth. She is survived by her brothers and their wives Ron and Vonnie Major, Les and Peggie Major, and numerous nieces and nephews. All whom loved her dearly and will never forget her tenacity, wit, charm, grace, and undying love and care for them.
Colleen started out working teaching positions in Snow Lake and Carberry, before moving to Thunder Bay where she was a stay-at-home mom. She moved to Winnipeg in 1984 and resumed teaching when her girls were older. The last 10 years of Colleen’s career were spent at Great West Life before retiring in 2017.
Colleen was a beautiful, kind, and soft-spoken woman who cared deeply for her family and friends. She loved all animals, especially her grand-dogs Yoshi and Apollo, and was a big supporter of the Winnipeg Humane Society. She enjoyed watching her grandson grow up and was always there to support him at his hockey games and other activities.
The family would like to thank the St. Boniface Hospital 8A palliative care unit, 5E medicine, ICU team, and the numerous physicians involved in her care. Special thanks to Judy who went above and beyond for our family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society in her memory. A family graveside service, internment, and celebration of life will take place at a later date.
