Obituary of Colin MacFarlane
COLIN JAMES MACFARLANE
April 5, 1928 -January 3, 2022
Passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville on Monday, January 3rd, 2022 at the age of 93.
Beloved husband of the late Alison. Much loved father of Andrew Macfarlane (Janice) and the late Lisa Stoehr (Chris). He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Nick (Jessica), Derek (Julia), Samantha (Steffan) and Glen (Emily) and his five great grandchildren. Dear brother of the late Nessie Gourlay.
Born in Cardiff, Wales, Colin emigrated to Canada in the 1950’s to take a job as a Site Manager for the Eastern Arctic leg of the dew line. His career as a civil engineer took him to places far and wide including, France, Denmark, Nepal, India and Pakistan. After working for decades at the Ministry of the Environment, he consulted the World Health Organization on environmental issues.
He will be remembered for his love of reading technical books, his interesting stories of his travels and most importantly his love of family, especially his beloved wife of 58 years.
Thank you to the staff at Seasons Clarington Retirement Home for their care and kindness.
Due to current restrictions and for the safety of all, no service is being held at this time. A Celebration of Life will be held when it is safe to do so.
If so desired, memorial donations may be made to Durham Region Hospice, Clarington.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, 53 Division Street North, Bowmanville.
