Clyde Edison Lansdell Sunday June 19th 2022

Clyde Edison Lansdell
The family of Clyde Lansdell grieves, yet rejoices, in the passing of their husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa as he graduated from life here on earth into eternal life with God. Father’s Day will hold an even more special place in our hearts as Clyde went to be with his heavenly FATHER on Father’s Day Sunday June 19, 2022 in his 87th year.
Born November 3, 1935 in Town Creek, Alabama to Claude and Christine, the oldest of 7 children, raised in poverty yet surrounded by love and faith, Clyde came to Ontario in 1955, met a college friend’s sister, Wilma, who became his wife in 1956. Clyde became a dad in 1958 when Roger was born and in 1961 Rayburn was added to the family. 65 years later Clyde and Wilma enjoyed a blessed life with their growing family, including daughter-in-law, Sandy (“Rocky”) and Sharon (“Sal”), 6 grandchildren and spouses, and 13 great grandchildren.
Clyde served as a minister with Churches of Christ in Ajax, Meaford, North Bay, Toronto, Hamilton, and East Colbert, Alabama. While in North Bay Clyde returned to school completing a BA in Psychology, then on to Toronto to continue his education with a Masters degree from York University, a PhD from University of Toronto, concluding with a specialty in Neuro Psychology.
However, his life was more than vocation and education. He loved fishing and hunting, gardening, listening to music, singing, playing the piano, making maple syrup, and playing Rook … the only card game he would be willing to play!
However, his life was much more than hobbies. He loved his family. Numerous fond and fun memories flood the minds of Wilma, Roger and Rayburn, his grandchildren Kyle (Anna) and Jessica (Carl), and Devon (Briar), Nathan (Katlyn), Bryce (Lydia) and Alysha (Dylan). Though not all of his 13 great grandchildren are old enough to enjoy the memories of their great grandpa, they were loved and cherished deeply by their G-pa.
However, his life was so much more than even family. He loved God. He came to know Jesus early in his life and followed him, faithfully though imperfectly. He knew what grace and mercy looked like. He cherished the gift of forgiveness. He lived in the anticipation and assurance that one day he would be welcomed by his heavenly FATHER into an eternal life free from sin and sorrow, pain and suffering, faults and failure.
Well done Clyde, welcome home.
A Celebration of Life will be held with family and friends on Friday June 24th, with visitation at 1:00 p.m. and service at 2:00 p.m. at Ostrander’s Funeral Home in Tillsonburg with Steve May officiating. A reception will follow at the Upper Deck Youth Centre, 19 Queen St., Tillsonburg.
