Linstead, Clayton Leslie – Age 70, Truro, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2022, in Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, five years after being diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Clayton is survived by his wife of 39 years, Margaret “Maggie”; son, Christopher (Jamie) of Victoria, BC; daughter, Elizabeth (Tim) and grandchildren, Benjamin, Anneke and Hannah of Lower Sackville; sisters, Vivian (Bill) of English Point, NL, Sarah, Winnie (Alfred), Elsie (Derrick) and brother, Ewart (Sharlene) of L’Anse Au Loup, NL.
He was predeceased by his parents, Percy and Rosie Linstead and sisters, Greta and Jessie.
Clayton was a gentle, kind man with a wonderful smile and sense of humour. He grew up in L’Anse Au Loup, Labrador where he met Maggie when she came to Canada from England as a nurse in 1981. They spent six years living in Labrador, 28 years in St. Anthony, NL and retired to Truro in 2012 to closer to their daughter, Elizabeth and grandchildren, Benjamin and Anneke.
Clayton and Maggie enjoyed their vacations and road trips to Boston, California, BC and Montreal with son, Christopher and daughter-in-law, Jamie to cheer on Chris in Triathlon and marathon races. Visits to England and Connecticut endeared him to Maggie’s three brothers, Richard, John and Peter, and twin sister, Kathy. They have fond memories of his special friends, Wyman Chambers and Wayne Abbot in St. Anthony, NL.
Clayton’s family is thankful for the wonderful care and kindness he received while living in Shannex’s Cedarstone Enhanced Care in Truro during the past two years. We will be forever grateful.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cedarstone Enhanced Care Recreation Department.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 7th at 2pm in Immanuel Baptist Church, 295 Young St., Truro with Rev. Michael Fredericks officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.ColchesterCommunity.com
