Claude LeDuc Thursday February 10th 2022

In the early morning of February 10th, 2022, Claude passed away at McKinney Creek Hospice in Maple Ridge. He left his wife of 30 years, Dominique Lalande, and his 21 year old daughter, Emma Leduc.
Claude grew up in St. Therese Quebec, where he lived with his parents as an only child. Claude moved to British Columbia with his parents in 1982 and started working in the security system industry. In 1986, he met the love of his life, Dodo ( Dominique ), through a friend of theirs. They married 1992 in St. Hilaire, Quebec. In 2000, they welcomed the most precious baby girl and love of their lives. Emma, now 21.
Claude was a loving and supportive father who always showed up to Emma’s extracurricular activities. Ringette, horseback riding, dance recitals or musicals, he was there with his camera to capture Emma in all her glory. He couldn’t have been a prouder parent. Some of Claude’s hobbies were helping the scouts, HAM radio, and hiking. He loved his trips with friends to Bowron Lakes on the West Coast Trail. Photography was the biggest and most special hobby he had. He took his camera gear everywhere he went to make sure every memory was captured. We often laughed at the size of his camera lenses.
In early 2019, Claude was diagnosed with Mantle Cell Lymphoma, an incurable and unpredictable form of blood cancer. In October of that year, he underwent a Stem Cell transplant. After the transplant, Claude regained health and strength, and began to enjoy life with his family and going back to work again. In May of 2021, the cancer returned. He spent 4 weeks at Eagle Ridge Hospital without his family around due to Covid-19, and also caught the shingles. Upon his return from the hospital, he dove into his work for Houle Electric, working from home and being careful not to catch Covid-19. He was then put on a different version of chemotherapy treatment to try and battle his cancer.
In December, Claude seemed to have lost his strength and energy again. On January 9th, he was sent to the hospital, where we learned that the new treatment was not working, and was ordered some very strong chemotherapy. Tumours had grown exponentially in size within his body. He fought relentlessly to stay with his family, but the cancer had won. Eventually, he passed away the morning of February 10th with his wife at his bedside.
Claude was an extremely courageous and strong man. He was well respected by his coworkers and friends, and loved by his family. He has left a hole in each of our hearts.
A Catholic mass will be held on Friday, February the 25th at 11:00am at Our Lady of Assumption Church on Shaughnessy in Port Coquitlam.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to VGH’s Hospital Foundation instead.
There will also be a celebration of life to follow in July.

  1. Claude, my good friend, I will really miss you after so many wonderful memories from our working days at Siemens and then when you went onto Stanley. It was always a fun time when we sat around the table with our other colleagues and had a good laugh together. Dominique and Emma our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Good Night, God Bless my friend.
