It is with great sadness and broken hearts that the family announces the passing of Claude Guillemette on October 16, 2022 at the at the age of 81 after a brave battle with cancer. He left this world peacefully, surrounded by his wife and children. He is survived by his devoted wife Lorraine Lemire Guillemette, with whom he celebrated 56 years of marriage this past August; his children Lise (Pierre), Dan (Mylea) and Sue (Martin) of Gatineau QC. Cherished grandfather of Mathieu, Phillipe, Jonathan, Jessica, Nicholas. Zackary, Maxim, Jakob and great grandfather of Éloïse and Antoine and Elisabeth, Abigaëlle.
He is survived by his brothers; Raymond (Marie-Claire), Albert (Lorraine), Jules (Suzette), Ernest (Sheila) and Arnel (Laura). He is also survived by many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews. Predeceased by his parents Albert Guillemette, Ernestine Dagenais, his brother Philippe (Kathy) his sister Claire (Emilien).
Claude will be remembered for his big heart, generosity, pride and determination. He was a thoughtful man and his family ties were deeply rooted. He will be greatly missed by so many. He was a trusted friend, father and brother. He enjoyed a life of adventure during his many years of snowmobile and motocross racing.
The family would like to thank the Ottawa Hospital for the exceptional care he received during his illness.
Special thanks to Dr. Marc Lapointe and Nadia Roy of the CLSC’s palliative care team who supported Claude and his family making it possible to honor his wish to die at home.
A private Celebration of Life will be held at the convenience of the family per his wishes.
