Goddyn, Clarence (Clare) Andrew (February 24,1949 – February 22, 2022) –
It is with sadness, we share the sudden passing of Clarence (Clare) Andrew Goddyn, on February 22, 2022, at the age of 72. Clare will be remembered as a warm, outgoing, and neighbourly person that loved to visit and lived to socialize with friends and family. He liked to tinker and was an avid collector and yard sale goer. His favourite pastime was going to the casino, usually Caesars in Windsor, with close friends. Clare worked at Mastico, then Reiter Automotive for many years until retirement. Although he did not have any of his own children, he will always be remembered as a caring family man and uncle to Jennifer Spietaels (Ron Ward); Christa Spietaels (Ron Bankes); Mandy (Craig Taylor), and great uncle to Madison Cross (Brandon Webster), Tessa Taylor and Leiah Taylor. Also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends and his casino buddy Raymond DeWeghe. Clare is predeceased by his parents Wilfred Goddyn (1985) and Helen (nee Fenton) Goddyn (2015), and by his sister Brenda (2016) (late Ben Lefebvre (2019)).
In keeping with Clare’s wishes, a public Traditional Funeral Service to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, March 3rd, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. in the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes- Burial and Cremation Services Inc. Chapel, 40 Queen Street, Langton, by Rev. Allan Wilson. Burial follows in Langton Baptist Cemetery. All who knew Clare are welcomed to attend a public visitation on Thursday, March 3rd, from 10:00 am to 11:30 am (service time). Attendees are not required to RSVP to attend the visitation or funeral service. All attendees must wear a face mask and are asked to maintain social distancing guidelines. Memorial donations in Clare’s memory to the “Langton Baptist Church” would be gratefully acknowledged by the family and can be contributed via Clare’s online tribute page at www.verhoevefuneralhomes.com or by contacting the Maurice J. Verhoeve Funeral Homes, Langton (519)842-4238, entrusted with all arrangements, with confidence.
