Obituary of Claire Zerr
Claire Zerr passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at the age of 72 with her loving husband by her side. She was born in Schuler, Alberta, where she attended elementary school. Claire’s first work experience was a dental assistant in Calgary. Later, when she moved to Regina she met her husband, Joe Zerr. They married in 1982, and made their home in Regina, SK. Claire began her career at Parkside Extendicare in 1989 as a Certified Nurse’s Assistant until she retired 23 years later. Working with the elderly was deeply satisfying and gave her great pleasure.
During her retirement years, Claire took a great interest in baking, delighting in sharing her goodies with the people who came to visit. In the summer, what became an enjoyable hobby, was nurturing her great variety of plants around the yard. Claire was a social person, reaching out to people and getting to know everyone around the neighborhood. Claire and her husband Joe loved to travel, especially to the Philippines where they formed close relationships with the people in their frequent visits. A lasting tie with the people there is their involvement in a housing project for the poor. She will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish Claire’s memory and celebrate her life are her husband Joe; two sons, Dean (Cheryl) Zerr and family, Sam Love (a.k.a. Aaron); ten siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents George and Elizabeth Unreiner of Medicine Hat (Schuler), Alberta; and two siblings.
Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, August 5, 2022 at Holy Child Roman Catholic Church, 2636 – 7th Avenue East, Regina, SK.
