Obituary of Christos Elias
Forever Loved, Never Forgotten …
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Christos Elias in his 92 nd year. Christos was the loving husband of Iordana for 70 years; beloved father of Austin, John, and Tom; proud grandfather of Andrew, Alexandra (Manav), Christophe and Stephan; and father-in-law to Andrea and Lidia. He is survived by his brothers Sam and Peter and predeceased by his brothers Tom and Nick. Christos was born in the village of Kirpeshina, Florina, in the Macedonian Region of Greece. In 1958 he made the difficult decision to leave his home, his wife and two young children, and travel to Canada in search of a better life for his family. Ending up in Toronto, he worked multiple jobs, and soon was able to bring his family to join him in Canada.
During his long life, Christos made countless sacrifices for his family. He arrived in Canada alone and unable to speak the language but he taught his sons the value of hard work, simply through his example. Christos will be deeply missed by all those who loved him, and those who listened to his many stories. Visitation at Dixon Garland Funeral Home, 166 Main Street North, Markham ON on Thursday November 10 th from 4-8pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Dimitrija Solunski Macedonian Orthodox Church, 201 Main Street North, Markham ON Friday November 11 th at 10am. Entombment to follow at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill ON.
