Obituary
CLARKE, Christopher Edward
February 20, 1938 – March 11, 2022
Born in Weston, Ontario to David and Freda Clarke, brother to Marlene (Mike). Beloved husband of (the late) Marlene Clarke, cherished father of Kelly, Karen (Brian) and Christopher Guy (Stephanie). Papa to Brandon, Taylor, Sarah and Katelyn, passed away peacefully at Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
Chris joined the Ontario Provincial Police in 1964 and graduated from the Ontario Policing College in 1966. He spent the first 10 years of his service with the Oak Ridges Detachment before moving in 1974 to Downsview Detachment, Criminal Investigation Unit as Detective Constable. After 29 years of policing service he retired in January 1993.
Realizing one of his life-long dreams, he moved to Muskoka near the town of Dorset where he spent many years as a bus driver and guide for the Dorset Tower and sharing his knowledge and love of the area. In keeping with his commitment to community service, he also volunteered with the Dorset Community Policing and Haliburton Highlands O.P.P.
He was a lifelong hockey enthusiast and player. He was drafted by the NHL in 1959 but left to pursue a career in policing, however, he continued to play hockey well into his 50s.
Memorial service to be held Wednesday, March 23 at 1:00pm at Billingsley Funeral Home, 430 Ravenscliffe Rd., Huntsville. Reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his name to the The War Amps of Canada or Huntsville District Memorial Hospital would be greatly appreciated.
