SHAND, Christine Marie – 70 of Shag Harbour, passed away February 27, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was the daughter of the late Lewis and Beatrice (Banks) Cameron. Predeceased by her baby brother Stephen Cameron. She is survived by husband, Philip Shand; siblings, Valerie (Maurice) Shand and Tony (Wendy) Cameron. She has two children, Jason (Trudy) Shand and Christy (Mark) Conrad, and 4 grandchildren, Keigan (Michaela), Brady, Drew and Katie. She also had many nieces and nephews, to whom she was lovingly known as “Aunt Neen”. One of her greatest accomplishments was becoming “Grammie” to her four grandchildren. She is remembered by grandkids and grand nieces and nephews for her tea parties, where even the Queen of England was known to attend! By her grandchildren in particular, she was known to remind them to check out the full moon and of late years her grandkids would text her to remind her to look at the moon on a particularly beautiful night. They will likely not look at the moon again without seeing Grammie. After graduating Nova Scotia Teachers College in Truro she taught in The Boys School in Shelburne and Woods Harbour Elementary School before settling into teaching in her own church school, Guiding Light Christian Academy. She is known for her involvement in her church, Guiding Light Baptist ,where she was involved with the youth groups, many ladies nights and taught a ladies Bible study for several years. She was also an active member of the Chapel Hill Historical Society. She was author of 4 devotional books that were published and was working on her 5th book. She was also know for often posting devotional writings on Facebook that were thought provoking and encouraging to many. She spent several years, with her husband Philip, running a Bed and Breakfast where they enjoyed meeting people from around the world. Christine also loved to travel and was able to make many precious memories and enjoy many family trips, both in Canada and abroad. Christine touched many lives in her time. She is admired for her ability to find positivity through even her difficult health issues. She leaves a legacy of love, prayer and faith.
We will not live without you; we will live in the love you left behind.
