In loving memory of Christine Laverne Miller who passed away peacefully on September 19, 2022, at the age of 96.
Laverne was not only a mother, but still a sister at this amazing age to Orma Johnson (Elton). Aunt to a few incredible nieces Shirley, Gloria, Evelyn and Linda who loved her dearly, a beloved mother to Ronald Miller (Freida), James Miller, Gayle Christine Miller (Mike), mother in law always in her heart to Grant Rusk (Pat), gramma to so many grandkids, Kenny (Sherry), Amanda, Rhonda (Geoff) and Ryan (Renee), Jason, Kevin (Amanda) and Jarod (Shelly), Brandi (Pat), Chelsea (Adam) and Cheyenne (Hunter). She was also great gramma to so many littles who aren’t all so little anymore. Laverne was predeceased by her husband John Herbert Miller and brothers Lloyd, Lorne, Robert and Edward. Apologies to any not named, know you were always in her heart.
Born March 10,1926 in Cadillac, Saskatchewan, Laverne was a stubborn independent farm girl who grew up quickly helping raise her siblings when her mother passed away at a very young age. She went on to raise her family in an old-fashioned way, always making homemade bread, cookies, spending the summers preserving fruit and vegetables. Large family gatherings around a table at Christmas and other holidays where the food was always plenty, and everyone was welcome. Nothing she loved better than a card game or three. We will never forget our wonderful memories with her and she will be missed greatly. She was a feisty lady who always spoke her mind and was true and honest to one and all. So independent that she was still walking (walker) to the local drugstore or grocery store at 95 to pick up her few necessities. One should hope for such a long and loved life.
We joked that she would outlive Queen Elizabeth and she did! She passed away peacefully after watching the Queens funeral. Always an independent woman for her day, we all feel she controlled her choice and felt it was time to join the Queen for tea.
