Obituary of Christina Wilhelmina Van Oene
VAN OENE- Christina “Christine” Wilhelmina (nee Pennings) of St. Thomas was called home to her Lord on Saturday, August 6, 2022 in her 90th year. Christine is predeceased by her husband Willem “Bill” Van Oene (2018). Christine is survived by her children John Van Oene (Stacy Steen) of Grand Rapids, Martin Van Oene of Grimsby, and Audrey Van Oene (Erik Kooyer) of Grand Rapids; by her grandchildren Kaile (Ben) Videtich and their children Silas, Maelin and Junia, Luke Van Oene, and Zeke, Calvin and Pieter Kooyer; by her siblings, Bertha (late Fred) De Jong, John (Mary) Pennings, Bill (Sara) Pennings, Gary (Ineke) Pennings, and Albert (Annette) Pennings; sister-in-law Wil (late Henk) Voerman; and by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Ben Pennings and Henk (Gerda) Pennings, Jan Pennings by her sister Wilma (late Jack) De Jong, by her sisters-in-law Alie Steyn, Hennie Pennings and Guss Rook.
Visitation will be held at the Shawn Jackson Funeral Home, 31 Elgin Street, St. Thomas (519-631-0570) on Saturday, August 13, 2022 from 6:00-8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at The Junction Church, 320 Elm Street, St. Thomas on Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 3:00 pm. A private family interment in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery will be held at a later date. If desired, donations to The Voice of the Martyrs would be appreciated.
