Obituary
On Thursday evening, April 21, 2022, as the sun was setting over the beautiful city of Corner Brook that he loved so much, with his beloved family by his side after a very brief but courageous battle with cancer, time came to say good-bye (for now) to Chester Higgins.
Ches is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 60 years, Marie (Sheppard). Leaving behind with many cherished memories to ponder are his three children for which he was ever so proud. Glenn (Diane), Craig (Lydia) and Tina (Aaron). His big blue eyes would beam with pride when he would speak of each of his children but as if it were even possible, he would beam just a little brighter as he spoke about each one of his grandchildren Melanie, Ryan, Ashley, Nicole, Nicholas, Aimee, Joshua and Abigail. Each held a very special place in pop’s heart as he does in each of theirs.
Ches also leaves to mourn his bothers, John, Bruce (Minnie), Clarence (Barb), Derek, Ray (Marg), sisters Gloria, Sandra and Joan. He was predeceased by his parents, Selby and Bertha Higgins, brother Joseph and his in laws Ulric and Roshanna Sheppard as well as many more relatives and friends.
Ches enjoyed many adventures but nothing he would cherish more than the quality time he would spend with his family and friends for get togethers, cards, ski-doo rides complete with a boil up and hunting trips with his boys Glenn and Craig.
Ches was also a lifetime member of Corner Brook Elks Lodge #505.
As per his wishes, cremation has taken place with a celebration of his life to be announced at a later date.
No flowers by request. Donations can be made the Corner Brook Elks Lodge #505, P. O. Box 50., Corner Brook, NL A2H 2C3 or Palliative Care Unit of Western Memorial Regional Hospital.
“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Chester Higgins May 26 1941 April 21 2022..
