In Celebration of
Ches Zinkewich
March 29, 1925 –
March 2, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ches Zinkewich, aka Grand-Poobah, on Wednesday, March 2nd, at the age of 96, at l’hôpital Laurentien in Sainte-Agathe.
Loving husband to Aline (née Lanoue; predeceased), he will be greatly missed by his daughters, Diane (Michael), Carol (Mike), Joanne (Mike) and Linda (Dan), as well as his grandchildren, Aline (Chris), Matthew, Jodee and Kayla (Vince). He will be missed also by his nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his siblings, Wanda, Vera, Leo and Stella.
He was also known as Mr. Ches in the four businesses he founded and operated in his lifetime, Herlicon, Uzin, Unicor and Calseco (The Shop), where so many benefited from his self-taught knowledge and skills.
He worked tirelessly to provide for his family. One of his greatest gifts was a country house where strong family bonds were created and remain to this day. This was of the utmost importance to him. His sense of humour, generosity and silly antics will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will take place at the Mount Royal Funeral Complex, 1297 chemin de la Forêt, Outremont, H2V 2P9 (514-279-6540) on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 1 p.m. and the burial will follow at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Fondation médicale des Laurentides et des Pays-d’en-Haut or to the Montreal Heart Institution Foundation would be lovely.
