Obituary
Cheryl Christina Smith passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on August 10, 2022 at the age of 47. Mourning her passing are her mother Teresa Smith, brothers Stephen Smith, Scott Smith and her cherished nieces and nephew James, Ella, Amanda and Megan. Cheryl was predeceased by her father Gerald Smith (2020).
Cheryl loved life and was loved by many family and friends. Upon graduating from Business Marketing at Algonquin College, she decided to return to college and follow in the footsteps of several of her admired aunts where she once again graduated as a Registered Practical Nurse. With her education she moved to Ottawa where she worked at a number of medical clinics. She eventually made her way to Chartwell Kanata Retirement Residence where she absolutely fell in love with the residents and staff. She remained with Chartwell Kanata for the remainder of her career wearing a big smile every day.
A celebration of life will be held at the Church of St. Francis de Sales in Latchford Bridge, Ontario on Saturday, September 10, 2022. The Smith family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 am – 10:50 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial and graveside prayers.
Memorial donations would be appreciated on behalf of Cheryl to the Ottawa Heart Institute ICU, the Civic Hospital Hemodialysis Unit or Civic Ultrasound Department (see below for links). Many heartful thanks to all the Nurses and Doctors and Staff of the Civic Hospital for their gracious and compassionate care.
