Stu was born in Gainsborough, England to Charles and Irene Keeping. Predeceased by his sister Helen Bonnett.
Survived by his two son’s, Scott (Meghan) and Craig (Christine). He was a proud grandpa to Carter, Taylor and Cassidy.
After finishing his degree at Oxford, Stu started his career in Education (England), teaching art and Social Studies. During his occupation, he met his former wife, Jo, in 1966.
In 1968, they got married and took the train across Canada to teach in Grouard, Alberta. It was at this time Stu completed his Masters Degree. After seeing the beauty of Vancouver Island on a holiday, they decided to look for teaching jobs on the island and Stu began teaching in Youbou. He later completed his PhD in Psychology and began working at Cowichan Secondary School as a counsellor until he retired.
In 2009, Stu received a kidney transplant from his son Craig. Allowing him to enjoy many more memories on the golf course with his boys, socializing with his morning coffee group and participating in weekly aquatic classes. He took great pleasure in watching his kids grow into competitive golfers and loved to work outside on his hobby farm.
Stu will be deeply missed and remembered for his kindness, generosity and love of the Cowichan Valley. But most of all, he will be missed for being the best Dad his sons could have ever asked for.

  1. Dear Scott and Craig,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Dad.
You and your families are in my thoughts and hope that time will ease the pain of your loss. Treasure all the memories of the years you had together. May peace fill your hearts, may faith light your way.
I have lots of good memories of your Dad from meeting you at Miracle Beach when you were small but most centering around Cowichan Golf Course.
    with love, Marsha
