Charles James Corbett April 4, 1942 to Jan 13, 2022 son of the late Pearce and Violet (Macleod)and adopted parents Edward and May Petrie passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side after a brief illness.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife and best friend Christine, daughters Cathy ( Bob Smithson) and Maureen (Robert) Hawley all of Ontario and step-son Neil Sheppard New Waterford, sisters Theresa new Waterford, Elileen, Marilyn Melvydas, and Elaine (Al Cobb) all of Ontario, brothers Nick, Ranni (Diane) of Dominion and Gerald (Grace) Ontario. and special nephew Michael (Mary)Corbett, as well as 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, Charlie will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents Charlie is predeceased by sisters Ellen and special sister Mary Petrie and her family, brothers Danny, Wayne, Naesh, and Joseph, in-laws Margie Wiseman and Albinas Melvydas.
Charlie worked as a coal miner for over 49 years. He was a fire chief for the Fourchu/Framboise fire department. After he retired he went back to work at Louisbourg Seafoods until his final retirement. Charlie loved picking berries. Everything from blueberries to strawberries to bake apples. He was also known to many as the berry man or candy man. He also loved his feral cats which he fed faithfully everyday.
Visitation will be held Tuesday Jan 18, 2022 at the Louisbourg Calvin Memorial Hall from 11-12 noon. Funeral service to follow at First United Church, Louisbourg with Rev. Emily Duggan officiating.
All Covid protocols will be in place. Masks must be worn and proof of Double Vaccination and Government ID must be shown.
