Charles Ernst Charlie Delaney 1936 2022

Charles Ernst “Charlie” Delaney – 86,
Onslow Mountain, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 9, 2022,
at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born in Onslow
Mountain, he was a son of the late Roderick and Annie (Smith)
Delaney.
While Charlie began his career at the former Lewis Hat
Factory, he spent his life working in the forest industry as well as
farming Christmas trees and blueberries. Charlie was a quiet man, but
still waters run deep. We were inspired, and in awe, with his ability
to fix or engineer something we all had assumed was past the point of
repair! In recent years, Charlie enjoyed walking the home place or
sitting with a cup of tea and donut telling stories from his younger
days.
Charlie is survived by his brother, Lorrain, Onslow Mountain;
sisters, Joyce Marchbank, Debert; Theresa Glass, Onslow Mountain;
nieces, Sherri (Donald) Smith, Debert; Vimy Glass, Onslow Mountain;
Annie (Kim) Langille, Tatamagouche; nephews, Arnett Marchbank,
Victoria, British Columbia; Thomas Marchbank, Truro; Charles
Marchbank, Tatamagouche; many cousins. Along with his parents, he was
predeceased by his brothers, Roland and Aubrey; brothers-in-law, Brian
Glass and Arnett Marchbank.
Charlie’s wishes for a small, quiet graveside
service at Bible Hill Cemetery will be honoured. Arrangements have
been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street,
Truro. Private messages of condolence may be sent to the family by
