It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecile Hilts (née Charron). Cecile passed away peacefully at the Espanola Nursing Home, surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, July 20, 2022.
Beloved wife of late husband, Bob Hilts. Loving mother of Allan (Kim), Kim (Greg McCulloch), Corie (Leo Rancourt), Janice (John Powell), Bryon (Richard McCombe), and Karen (Brian Wilson). Adored Mama of grandchildren: C.R., Candice, Dana, Brent, Neely, Lindsay, Brittany, Jamie, Ali, Dane, Nicholas, Kristopher, and 15 great grandchildren.
Dear sister of Bernard (Pat). Predeceased by her parents, Lucienne (née Vanier) and Arthur Charron; her in-laws, Thelma (née McEwen) and J.M. Hilts; her brothers: J.P., Guy, Normand, Marcel, and sisters: Francoise, Carmelle, and Micheline; as well as her great grandson, Dawson. She will be forever loved and greatly missed by her family.
Cecile proudly worked at the Espanola General Hospital for over 30 years, and was the Head of Housekeeping for the majority of her career. She was a woman of great faith and a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League. She was also a member of the Espanola Lions Club, and volunteered much of her time to the Espanola Food Bank, and school breakfast programs in the community. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm hugs, and loving ways.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 29, at 10 a.m., at St. Jude’s Parish, followed by a luncheon at the Espanola Royal Canadian Legion to celebrate Cecile’s life.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy can be made to the Espanola Nursing Home (Long Term Care). The family would like to extend a big thank you to the staff of the Espanola Nursing Home for the great care and kindness shown to Cecile during her time there.
