It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cécile Diamond, (née St.Georges), age 89 of Hanmer Ontario passed away April 26, 2022, at Maison McCulloch Hospice surrounded by her children, Denise (Neil Talbot), Gerry (Debbie), Lise (Robert Gagne), and Louise. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Dylan (Patrick), James (Stéphanie), Joel, Justin, Josée (Curtis), André (Alina) and Renée (Kujtim) and two great grandchildren, Alice and Rose.
She was preceded in death by her husband Frank (Francois) in 1984, both her parents Noé and Dolores St. Georges (née Beaulieu) and also by her 8 siblings and their spouses; Léonard (Cécile Beausoleil), Lorien, Emérencia (Joseph Lapierre), Diane Beausoleil, Thérèse (Rejean Lacasse), Dolores (Gabriel Malette), Lèo Paul (Heather/Nanette) and Denise (Jacques Bock) .
Cécile was born in Lavigne Ontario and grew up surrounded by her large family. Cécile worked as a replenishing clerk in the C.S. R. Department at Laurentian Hospital, retiring in 1992. She enjoyed traveling, camping with her family in Lavigne and planting beautiful flowers in the summer. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching “En direct de l’univers”. She was one of the “golden girls” along with her two sisters, Dolores and Emérencia. She loved their outings. She had a great fear of “bees” and “wasps”, breaking into an entertaining war dance whenever one approached her.
ln the past 4 years, Cécile battled systemic scleroderma but she never gave up the fight, always preparing for a new day, a true warrior. She was a woman of strength and beauty and was extremely proud of her family, leaving beautiful memories. She cherished her family and loved making homemade soup, banana cake and the best buttertarts. You would never leave her house with an empty stomach. She was always giving of her time and looking out for everyone else.
We will miss her laugh and the hilarious comments she would come up with. We will never forget her blueberry buckle where she put cloves instead of cinnamon. Your suffering is now over mom, and you are now in a better place, dancing, singing “des chansons à répondre” and drinking Bailey’s having joined dad and members of your family. We now have another guardian angel giving us strength and wisdom to carry on our journeys.
We would like to thank Dr. Krawczuk, Dr. Walton, Dr. Punn, Dr. Langille, and the nurses, PSWs and kitchen staff at Maison McCulloch Hospice for the compassion and great care our mother received. You are special angels.
A memorial mass will be held at Ste. Marguerite d’Youville Church (4290 Old Hwy 69, Val Therese) on Saturday, May 14th, 2022 at 10:00 am. Friends may gather at the church after 9:30 am on Saturday. Interment in the Valley East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you make a donation to the Maison McCulloch Hospice in memory of Mom. Arrangements entrusted to the Lougheed Funeral Home. For donations or messages of condolences www.lougheedfuneralhomes.com.
