Ashton (nee Beach), Catherine Rose
Passed away peacefully at Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in her 82nd year. Loving wife of the late Vern Ashton. Sadly missed by her children James (Crystal Dolliver) and Bruce, by her granddaughter Sierra, and by her nieces and nephews and their children. Catherine is predeceased by her brother Beverley (Bev) Beach. Catherine attended McMaster University and then taught high school first in Hagersville and later in Orillia at Park Street Collegiate. She subsequently taught at Georgian College where she had a long and distinguished career, retiring in 2002. She was an active member of St. Paul’s United Church and also the Jubilee Chorale. She was very active in community events such as Canada Day, as well as being a published author. A celebration of Catherine’s life will take place at St. Paul’s United Church on a date to be determined. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul’s United Church or the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society and will be accepted by the Doolittle Chapel of Carson Funeral Homes, 54 Coldwater St. E., Orillia, (705) 326-3595.
