Born on November 7, 1937 in Hellendoorn, Netherlands, Rini passed away peacefully at her home in Port Perry on Friday, December 9, 2022, after a very courageous battle with cancer. Rini (nee Heetkamp) has been reunited with her best friend and husband Henk Bouwmeester (1935-2017). A wonderful mother and an amazing Oma, Rini is survived by her three sons Tim (Laurie), Alen (Kim) and Mark (Tammy); her five grandchildren Caine (Clare), Taylar (Cody), Lisa (Matt), Jazmine and Jade (Connor); and her five great-grandchildren Olivia, Annabel, Kallie, Benjamin Henk, and Riley.
The oldest of 9 children, Rini came to Canada in 1961 looking for adventure. She was an avid rug hooker and an active member of the Catholic Women’s League for nearly 55 years, making lasting friendships at both. Rini will be lovingly remembered by her brothers and sisters both in Canada and the Netherlands (Miep, Henk, Sientje, Tony, Elly, Jan, and Gettie), and her many nieces and nephews, and friends.
The family of Rini Bouwmeester will receive friends at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905-985-2171) on Tuesday, December 13th from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1710 Scugog Street (Hwy 7A) in Port Perry on Wednesday, December 14th at 11 a.m. with Father Keith Wallace officiating. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Oak Ridges Hospice of Durham. Memories, photos and condolences may be shared at www.waggfuneralhome.com
