Obituary of Carol Marie Rutledge
Rutledge, Carol Marie- 84, Dartmouth, died peacefully at home in her sleep on February 20, 2022. Born in Spry Harbour May 9, 1937 she was a daughter of the late Clarence & Vera (Cameron) Hawes. Carol worked a variety of jobs in the retail sector in her earlier years. She was an active member of Saint John’s Anglican Church and was a volunteer with the women’s auxiliary. Everybody loved her wonderful pies. She enjoyed travelling with her husband across Canada to spend time with family. Carol enjoyed gardening, bowling, and playing cards in her local card group, listening to Rita MacNeil music on Seaside FM and was a huge fan of figure skating. She loved to lace up her skates to enjoy time on the ice well into her golden years. Her boundless energy allowed her to keep pace with her daughter when they enjoyed power shopping together. She had endless love for her fur baby cats Georgie and Bella. Carol always carried a smile and warmth everywhere she went. Survived by her children Brad (Virginia), Kayla Rutledge both of Dartmouth, grandchildren Sara-Lynn and Robyn, great grandchildren Alexis and Olivia, sister Patricia Forsythe Ontario, brothers; Wendell, Spry Harbour, Terry (Linda) Sooke B.C, Brent (Salome’) Dartmouth. Predeceased by husband Hector, brother Carson, sister Joyce Norman, Ernest in infancy, sister-in-law Sheila Hawes, brother-in-law Joe Adams. Cremation has taken place.
