Carol Anne MacNicol (Hewson)
October 1, 1946 – July 13, 2022
Carol passed away unexpectedly and peacefully in her home on Wednesday July 13, 2022, at the age of 75 with her loving husband by her side.
She will be greatly missed by her husband Charles (Chuck) MacNicol and her puppy companion Niska. Predeceased by her parents Howard Allen Hewson and Olive Mildred Hewson (Ritchie) and her brother James Howard Hewson. Survived by her sister Nora Ellen Armstrong (Hewson).
She will be fondly remembered by her brother in law Gary MacNicol, sister in law Linda Hewson, nieces and nephews Carla, Robyn, Jason and great nieces Halle, Leah and Gabby.
Carol lived life to the fullest and had a true love for the outdoors, no matter the season. An avid backcountry camper, paddler, Alpine skier, gardener, and traveler. A tremendous love for animals, and nothing gave her more pleasure than spending the morning on the trails with her dogs. On the rare occasion you may catch her inside baking or knitting to the hum of a soft radio.
Carol was born in Collingwood, Ontario on October 1, 1946, and graduated from Collingwood District Collegiate Institute (CCI). From there, Carol started her studies in 1963 at Royal Victoria Hospital Nurses Training and in 1967 she graduated as a Registered Nurse. Carol then enrolled at the University of Toronto in the early 1970’s and graduated with a Public Health Certificate and began her Public Health Nursing career at the Simcoe County Health unit in 1974 and continued there until her retirement in September of 2000. Carol’s natural compassion to help others carried on past retirement supporting and helping family and friends. Her advice and knowledge will forever be valued and appreciated.
Cremation has taken place, and a private service will be held. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Carol may be made to the Georgian Triangle Humane Society or your local animal shelter.
