Carmel Lucille Parsons

It is with heartfelt sadness we announce the sudden passing of Carmel Lucille Parsons, age 56, beloved daughter, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Monday, July 18, 2022 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in New Waterford on April 8, 1966, she was the daughter of Annie (Hurley) and the late Gervase Fortune. Carmel’s greatest joy in life was her family and especially her grandchildren. She was loved by everyone who knew and met her.
Carmel is survived by her loving husband Charles “Charlie”, son Charles Jr. (Benita) and daughter Margaret Ann (Dave) Julian, her two grandchildren Dominic Julian and Jacob MacAulay; her sisters Angela (Winston) Burke, Simone (Brian) Mutch, Margaret (Joe) Lynk, Frances Hibbert, Florence Angione, Paula Fortune and Elizabeth Morrison (Leo). She is also survived by her mother-in-law Genevieve Turner Parsons, her brothers-in-law Richard (Connie) Parsons, Patrick (Mary) Parsons and sister-in-law Marguerite Parsons, many nieces and nephews.
Carmel was predeceased by her father Gervase, her father-in-law Richard Edgar Parsons and brother-in-law Lloyd Parsons.
The family would like to thank the staff of 3A and 4D at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, also the VON for their care of Carmel over the years.
Visitation for Carmel will be held from 2-3 pm on Saturday, July 23 at the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney. A funeral service will follow at 3 pm in the Funeral Home Chapel with Deacon David Lewis officiating. Memorial donations in Carmel’s name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
