Carl Joseph Crawford Snook – August 15, 1944 – June 3, 2022, of Balfron, Colchester Co., N.S.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carl on June 3, 2022 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, Tatamagouche.
Born in Balfron, he was a son of the late Crawford and Kathleen (Murphy) Snook.
Carl in his younger years worked in the Tobacco Fields in Ontario. He later went on to work in Alberta on the Oil Rigs for a number of years. He finally returned home and went to work as a woodsman. Carl loved telling tall tales as well as enjoyed going for drives with Sylvia and Buddy. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Tatamagouche and later joined the River John Branch.
He is survived by his partner, Sylvia (Lewis) Murphy; stepdaughter, Lisa (Terry) Redmond, River John; step grandchildren, Ashley (Mike) Schouten, Skye (James) Brown; step great grandson, Sabastian; his lifelong companion, Buddy, who was always at his side; brothers, Roland (Dorothy), New Annan, Cecil, Balfron, Russell (Carolynn), Kindersley, Sask., Crawford “Pete” (Jamie), Kindersley, Sask., Steward (Jean), Wetaskiwin, Alta.; sisters, Dorothy (late Roger) Langille, Victoria, BC, Irene (late Martin) McNutt, Balfron, Marlene (David) Mattatall, New Annan; Frances (Edward) Sutherland, River John; Violet, Tatamagouche, Helen (Kevin) Weatherbie, Balmoral; aunts, Margaret “Molly” Ferguson, Hamilton, Ont., Annie Brown, River John; uncle, Harold Murphy, Hamilton, Ont., as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Carl was predeceased by brothers, Willie, Edward, Robert, Roy, Randall, Hughie, sisters, Jean and Marie; two siblings in infancy; aunts, Gladys Dawid, Janie “Mae” Ibey, Jean Murphy, Isabelle Murphy, Patricia “Patty” Dika; uncles, Walter, Austin, William, Clifford, Boyd, Lester “Sandy”, Clarence “Edgar”, George Ibey, Stanley Dawid, Herbie Brown and Jim Ferguson.
A special appreciation to Dr. Bush, Martha Underwood and to the nurses and staff at the Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital.
Donations may to the Balfron Cemetery or charity of choice.
In keeping with Carl’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A Family Graveside Service will be held at a later date in Balfron Cemetery with Rev. Connie McNamara officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche.
