Carl Hazen Woodley 19422022

Carl Hazen Woodley
1942-2022
It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of
Carl Hazen Woodley at the Kings County Memorial Hospital in Montague,
Prince Edward Island; on April 5th, 2022. Born on September 23rd 1942,
in Tracey, New Brunswick; Carl was the son of the late Carl and
Elizabeth (Nason) Woodley.
In addition to being happily married for almost 57 years; and
raising two sons; Carl also ran a successful business in Fredericton
for 29 years (Brunswick Roofing & Sheet Metal Limited), with
the help of his hard working and loyal employees. He loved the
challenges of running a business; and enjoyed the connections and
friendships he made. During his time in business Carl served a term as
president of the Canadian Roofing Contractors Association, from 1996
to 1997. It was a special day in 2003 when Carl received a letter from
the Prime Minister; congratulating him on his years in business; and
saying “Only those who faced the choices and taken the risks
inherent in making a business grow can fully appreciate the sense of
fulfillment that comes with success”.
While Carl put his heart and soul into his business; he was
also passionate about his family, extended family, and friends. If
anyone needed something, he was there. Carl was also passionate about
hobbies; and he had plenty of interests that he explored. He learned
how to fly; acquired is private pilot license; and eventually shared
ownership of a plane for a number of years. Photography and developing
film; sailing; motorcycling; and growing grapes were also passions
that he explored during his life.
Family memories include summer vacations to Prince Edward
Island; family reunions; birthdays; anniversaries; Christmas holidays;
renovation of a camp at Harvey Lake for his family; the building of a
family home; trips to Maui; snowmobiling trips; relaxing with his
family after a long week of work with popcorn and a movie on a Friday
night; Saturday nights with homemade beans and brown bread; sharing
laughs and tears; and so much more. The past ten years were spent with
his loving wife at their waterfront home located in Lower Montague,
Prince Edward Island; where they made even more friends.
Carl’s life was full.
Carl is survived by his wife Carol (Stairs); children Dan
(Jill) and Mark (Tammy); twin sister Elizabeth “Ebbie”
Tracy, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister
Jean Hoyt, and brothers-in-law Elwood Tracy and Harold
Hoyt.
A special thank you to the doctors and nurses that cared for
Carl in Montague. Also, endless gratitude is felt for the friends and
neighbours in Montague; who have shown the true meaning of friendship
during this difficult time.
The interment will follow the service at Gladstone Cemetery,
Fredericton Junction, New Brunswick at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, donations to a charity of the donor’s choice in
Carl’s name would be appreciated by the family.
