Calvin’s Obituary
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of the late Calvin (Henry) Francis announces his sudden but peaceful passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Book, NL on Tuesday, March 23rd, 2022 at the age of 73 years. Calvin was the son of the late Phillip and Nita Francis and was also predeceased by his grandson; Gregory Francis, brother; Ches Francis and father-in-law; Percy Taylor.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his loving wife of 55 years, Dorothy Francis (nee Taylor), his children; Angela (Edward) Bungay, Netta (Nolan) Wells both of Port aux Basques, NL, Yvonne (Jonathan) Wadden of Stephenville, NL, grandchildren; Justin (Angel), Milton, Ryan, Jesse, Dominic, Nathan, Micheal and Marcel, great-grandchildren; Chloe, Violet, Jaylah, John Thomas, Colton, Ireland, and Aiden. Calvin also leaves behind his brother; Sidney (Donna) Francis of Bathurst, NB, sister; Mamie Francis (Dan Farrell) of Rose Blanche, NL, mother-in-law; Violet Taylor plus a very large circle of in-laws, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Calvin was a very kind and generous man who didn’t have a bad word to say about anyone. He would help anyone and everyone who needed it, especially if they were family, as family meant everything to him. He was extremely active and worked with Newfoundland Hydro for 35 years. In fact, he was the very man who turned the power on for Petites and when the time come for the community to re-settle, was the man to shut it down.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 24th, 2022 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at East Haven Funeral Home Inc. in Port aux Basques, NL. The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25th, 2022 at 2 pm from the Wesley United Church in Port aux Basques, NL officiated by Joan Chassion, interment to follow at Wesley United Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to charity of ones choice.
