February 17, 1944 – February 23, 2022
It is with great sadness that the family of the late Byron (Scott) Campbell announce his peaceful passing on February 23, 2022, at the age of 78 years. He was surrounded by his loving family at the Western Long Term Palliative Care Unit in Corner Brook. Scott leaves to mourn with precious memories, his wife of 54 years, Lois, his children Kerri Campbell, Penny (Wendell) Janes, and John (Desiree) Campbell. His four grandchildren Brandon, Heather, Laura, and Katie of whom he was very proud. His sister Daphne Bartlett of Corner Brook, brother Jerry (Jean) Campbell of Halifax, Nova Scotia, and family pets. Scott also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Scott was predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) and Beatrice Campbell, siblings Glenys Tibbo, Diane Gilbert, Wayne Campbell, and loyal companion Chum.
Scott worked with Deer Lake Power (Kruger) for 43 years as a draftsman. He was a member of the Kinsmen Club and an avid outdoorsman with a love of fishing, hunting, and camping. Scott also enjoyed music where he played the drums in a local band (The Comets). He had a love of photography, gardening, and spending time baking/cooking with his grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors and nurses in the Emergency Department, 3C and Palliative Care Unit at Western Memorial Regional Hospital. In addition, a special thank you to Dr. Srir, the Deer Lake Community Health Nurses, and Reverend Jocelyn Cook, whose kindness and care were so appreciated.
Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive, Deer Lake on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 7 to 9 pm and a funeral service will take place on Saturday, February 26, 2022, at 2 pm, with Canon Jeffrey Petten officiating. Interment will be at a later date. Due to Public Health restrictions, the funeral will be by invitation only. Vaccine Passports, Photo ID, and Face Masks are required for both the visitation and the funeral service. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted, or donations can be made to the Janeway’s Children’s Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
