Peacefully with his daughters at bedside, Bryon Ray Gilmer, age 70 passed away at his residence in Wellington House in Prescott, Ontario on Sunday, December 25th, 2022.
Bryon was born and raised in Spencerville, Ontario. Over the last several years he battled a chronic and debilitating neurological disorder. Prior to this he was a dedicated truck driver who enjoyed watching nascar and hockey in his free time. He was a typical handyman dad, who thought duct tape fixed everything. In his glory days he was an avid first baseman and was scouted by the Cornwall Royals Hockey club.
His daughters were his pride and joy, and his favourite memories included spending time visiting with them, however nothing compared to his love for his grandchildren.
Bryon is pre-deceased by his parents Ray and Lorraine Gilmer.
He is survived by his daughters Stephanie (Corey) Herault, Jes (Tobias) Gilmer, Tiffani (Curtis) Jacques, and Hayley (Kyle) Gilmer; his grandchildren, Maddox, Sadie, Braydon, August, Lexon, Oliver, Emeric, and Lainey; his sister Debbie (Michael) Seary; and his nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to the staff at Wellington House for their care over the last several years, where they endured dirty jokes, foul language and many many laughs. His favourite staff member Miranda, held a special place in his heart.
He was a dedicated and loving father and will be greatly missed by both his family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2023, at the Prescott Legion, from 1-4, where friends and family can share happy memories, and remember his life in the way he would have wanted them too. Donations can be made to the Wellington House activity department in Bryon’s name.
He will wipe every tear from their eyes and there will be no death or sorrow, or crying or pain. All these things are gone forever- Revelation 21:4
