The family of Bruce King is sad to announce his passing on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Bruce was born on March 8, 1942 in Buchans, Newfoundland to Phil and Clara King and was one of two sons born to them.
Bruce met the love of his life, Maureen Lye and they were married on February 27, 1964 and were blessed with two daughters, Chanin and Deanna.
Bruce was a part of the Kimberley Fire Service for over 30 years. He worked his way up until he became the Fire Chief. He retired from his profession in 2000. Bruce also loved to go fishing and camping with family and his group of friends. He had become part of about 15 guys who would fish and camp together enjoying the beautiful areas in the Kootenays. If you know much of Bruce, you know he loved to banter with his friends. He looked serious but his nature was to be a tease to whoever he could be. Bruce will be missed dearly.
Bruce leaves behind to mourn him, his beloved wife of 57 years, Maureen and his daughters; Chanin (Shane) Murray and Deanna (Chris) Platt. He also leaves behind four grandchildren; Ally, Abby, Chelsea and Chase. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Phil and Clara and his brother Art King.
At Bruce’s request, there will be no funeral service. Memorial donations may be made in Bruce’s memory to The Pines Memorial and Development Society, 660 Knighton Road, Kimberley, BC V1A 1E2.
